About TrueBrit |
Colin and Jo purchased their first British Shorthair in 1987, a Calico named Catastrophe of TrueBrit. From that point on TrueBrit Cattery would demonstrate their love of "Brits of Color" focusing on Reds, Creams, Blacks, Bi-Colors and Calicos, and now Browns, with their most recent addition, a beautiful brown spotted male, Atocha's Knock on Wood of TrueBrit, bred by Erin Vosburgh. We strongly believe that the success of any cattery is the result of the hard work of all the British Shorthaired Breeders that have preceded us and the support and encouragement of friends and mentors who are willing to work with us and trust us with their beautiful cats. We also believe that the highest form of flattery comes from the many friends who have chosen to own and show a TrueBrit Cat. It is with this sense of gratitude that we would like to identify some very special friends and the cats they have entrusted to our care that have made such a tremendous difference to the quality of kittens we are now producing. We could write a book about the twists of fate and excellent good fortune that led us to these wonderful people and the friendships that have resulted, but that will have to happen in a different time and space. Our first imports came from Mrs. Norma Staap, Atrebates Cattery, Fishbourne, England. CH, DM Atrebates Myosotis of TrueBrit aka Echo and CH Atrebates High Flyer of TrueBrit aka Heidi. These two bluecreams have produced kittens of excellent conformation and coat quality with wonderful friendly temperament. The DM before Echo's name refers to the title Distinguished Merit, meaning that she has produced five CFA Grand Champions. Heidi, not to be outdone, is diligently working towards the same title. Coming to us from Ipswich, England is GC Taliesin Starry Night of TrueBrit aka LeRoi, a stunning black male. The generosity of Alan and June Edwards in entrusting this magnificent boy to us is beyond belief. LeRoi forever puts to rest the myth that blacks cannot have good coat. His greatest strength however is his big round head with splendid ear placement and huge round, level eyes and his gentle, loving temperament. One of LeRoi's kittens, Devonrose Liberty, owned and shown to perfection by Karen Noble, was CFA's Best British Shorthair Kitten in 1999. Mrs. Ann Stubbs, our wonderful friend from Wales has trusted us with two remarkable cats. GC, RW Positively Pencampwr Koch aka Rory is a red mackerel tabby male and his half sister GC Positively Ceridwen aka Bunny is a very special cream spotted female. We could not be more pleased with these cats and the kittens that they have produced. Lisa Kamm-Mischel was kind enough to let us use CH Positively Agamemnon of Purrdelis for Bunny's first mating. Together they have produced an exciting litter with three of five kittens going to show homes. Coat density and texture along with tremendous body structure are the two characteristics we most expect from the Positively offspring. The health and temperament of our cats and kittens is reflected by the awards received at CFA Shows. We have had two National Breed Awards, five Regional Awards, and many Best, and or Second Best of Breed Awards in Region Two, We have bred CFA's only Dominant Calico Grand Champion, GC TrueBrit Indian Summer, shown and owned by Olivia Strongo, and Black and White Female Grand Champion, Chauserway Kuta-Kari of TrueBrit, bred by Mary Ann Enloe.
